A little about mybetterbib
One bib. Two ways.
Less midnight fuss.
mybetterbib started with a familiar problem: a sweet cuddle after feeding can turn into spit-up down baby’s clothes, or down the front and back of your shoulder. At midnight, the last thing you need is another cloth to rearrange.
Why I’m creating mybetterbib · By Emily
I’m a mom of two. I want one less thing to juggle.
I’m Emily, the mom behind mybetterbib. I’m creating it around a very ordinary wish: to finish a feed, lift my baby to my shoulder, and focus on that little person instead of keeping track of a shifting cloth.
When you’re new to motherhood, even a small task can feel like one thing too many. You’re learning your baby’s cues, finding your own rhythm, and doing it all on interrupted sleep. I want the things within reach to make sense without a lot of adjusting.
One design for both of us
The change from feeding to burping is the moment I’m designing around. I want the same bib to work on baby and then on my shoulder simply by changing direction and using the appropriate fastening. A separate parent strap is part of that idea, so the baby’s closure doesn’t have to do a job it wasn’t designed for.
Somewhere for the spit-up to go
A small spill can reach the front of a shirt or travel down the back of a shoulder. The soft, absorbent shelf is there to give it somewhere to land and soak in. Front-and-back coverage matters to me because a cloth only helps where it actually covers.
Less adjusting when I need more sleep
I want the silicone interior to help the bib settle into its shape, with soft fabric cushioning the places that touch us. Non-toxic materials and easy washing are part of the design from the start. I’m thinking about the next feed and the next load of laundry as much as the first time someone picks it up.
This is an idea in development, and I want to bring you along honestly: the prototypes, the decisions, and the details that need testing. If you’re a new mom looking for one less little thing to manage, I hope mybetterbib will feel like it was created with your day in mind.
What makes mybetterbib different?
- For baby and mom—just change the direction. The same bib changes from coverage around baby to coverage over your shoulder. Baby uses the rear closure; mom or another caregiver uses the separate stretch strap.
- Catch spit-up before it runs down your clothes. A soft, absorbent wraparound shelf is designed to catch and soak up spills at the front and back, including both sides of your shoulder during burping.
- Easy washing. Less cloth adjusting. We’re designing it with non-toxic materials and a silicone interior that helps it hold its shape, with soft fabric against the skin. Machine washing is part of the brief, so everyday cleanup can be simple, too.
mybetterbib is in development. These are the features we’re designing toward; final materials, fit, care instructions, performance, and testing will be confirmed before launch. Our mybetterbib images illustrate the concept. Read the product FAQs or follow the Kickstarter launch.
The little things, by Emily
Emily’s guides cover the practical questions that come with baby care: choosing a burp cloth, comparing carriers, planning a registry, understanding a clothing size chart, or knowing what to ask your child’s clinician.
Shopping guides identify actual products, show their photos, describe their differences, and link to the relevant brand or retailer. The aim is to leave you with useful details and a clear next step.
Sources and product comparisons
Research starts with official manufacturer specifications, instructions, and product pages. Health and safety guidance uses linked sources such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, CDC, FDA, and CPSC. Articles include source links for checking the original information.
The guides use AI-assisted research and drafting. Product comparisons are based on published information rather than independent hands-on tests. Emily does not claim clinical qualifications, and health articles have not been medically reviewed. Brand mentions do not mean those brands endorse the site. There are currently no affiliate links.
Real products, identifiable pictures
Third-party product photos come from the named manufacturers or official product pages. Each photo is paired with a source credit and link. It represents the product shown; colors, included accessories, packaging, and available variants may differ from the option you select when buying.
Reference diagrams and charts are created for the specific article and point to their underlying sources. The blog does not use generic AI product mockups in place of real third-party products. Only mybetterbib’s own prelaunch imagery remains conceptual.
Health questions and changing information
Health guides are educational and do not replace a clinician’s advice. Seek medical care for urgent symptoms and ask your child’s clinician about individual needs, medicines, and feeding concerns.
Product specifications, availability, prices, safety notices, and retailer terms can change. Read the instructions for your exact model and check the official product page before buying. An article’s update date marks its editorial update, not continuous monitoring.
